Reading the air travel thread makes me thankful that I’m not scared of flying, but it got me thinking about things I do hate… (Hey, it’s Thursday afternoon and I’m counting down the hours til hometime) For me, I absolutely hate heights. I always try to face my fears and do things like rock climbing, go on rollercoasters etc but it always scares the bejeesus out of me, and I usually end up clambering to the side of the wall and trying (and failing) to press my body into the side as I cling on for dear life! And whenever I’m on a rollercoaster, the first part where it’s very slow as the carriage climbs to the top is absolutely terrifying.

So… what do you hate? What would you gladly never do again?

As per the flying thread I would gladly never fly again

I also hate heights and am scared of rollercoasters. Not scared of spiders, wasps or snakes though (well maybe poisonous ones.)

Snakes, I hate them.
I was staying at a farm in Hatta once and went to the bathroom, 2 mins after I came out, the houseboy went in and came out with a big snake that he found curled up behind the toilet where I had just been sitting. Lucky I had not put my foot on it because it was one that was quite dangerous.

I also have a fear of those big transparent looking lizards you used to get come in the house in UAE (might of all fled now they have built everywhere)

Flying, flying oh and flying. Haven't even opened the thread entitled bumpy ride in case it is about scary flights. Have only flown twice in last 13 years due to my fear and the last time was non stop turbulence with the most awful landing. I really thought I was about to die. I am terrified about having to fly again, definately the worst part of our relocation. I haver even looked in to the possibility of a cruise Uk to Dubai, but this time of year they're all coming the other way . My other phobia is lifts, would rather walk up 20 flights of stairs than get in a lift.

Rubberduck, I did a course to help deal with fear of flying a few years ago. I have the info booklet which I have scanned. If you think it might help you send me an email on sanddy . dogg @ gmail . com and I will send it to you by return.

I can show my age by saying we would get battered spam. It could be smelled when they started cooking it around 10am and lingered throughout the school all day *bleurgh*

can't stand ants and flies. Unfortunately, both are very common here. The ants are coming out in thousands now and I am going mad.

I found an entire ants nest in one of my house plants earlier - the little tiny brown ones, they just constantly seem to keep coming, I can't get rid of them, it's driving me crazy.

OK so this is not a phobia, but it is something I hate......scary movies. How many of you like them. I just can't understand why someone would put themselves through the experience as well as the nighmares afterwards. I could never watch a scary movie, especially spirit / ghost ones. I can barely cope with Harry Potter.

Some I flat out refuse to watch. Don't mind suspense and stuff, but just plain guts and gore is nasty.

Have to agree with you Chocs01.....I am more of a Miss Marple / Midsomer Murders type. Quaint, country cottage murders..with not a drop of blood in sight. Not realistic at all, but suits me. I have a friend back in UK who just loves scary movies....the scarier the better!!! Just don't understand it. Why make yourself frightened. How can you just expect to go to bed and have a good night's sleep after seeing some of these films.

I like the idea of movies like Hostel and Saw. I usually end up hiding under the blanket within the first five minutes and DH switches the TV off.

SAW was good in the beginning, when it was more about the story lines and twists, it was cleverly done then. These days it's all blood and gore.
