Every article I've read about this incident varies dramatically in the details they report... the only direct quote I've read from the girl herself (in the first article the DM ran with) said that she'd "been arrested for having a bottle of beer in the taxi".
A friend of a friend who says she knows her said she isn't being held in prison and they have taken her passport away whilst they decide whether or not to press charges.... I honestly don't believe ANYONE would ever get "completely naked"(to quote the DM) in a taxi!!!

I think you'll find that this kind of behaviour is not only frowned on but also illegal in several countries and not just Islamic ones. A few months ago, a taxi driver in Edinburgh drove a "busy" couple straight to the local police station and shopped them. He had asked them several times to stop their groping etc but they ignored him and the guy was very rude to him telling him to "shut it and drive". They were charged with gross indecency in a public place.

I agree with you that it can be benefiting for a child. If it has helped him that is great. Everyone's circumstances are different. Your purpose of buying it out of need is different than me buying it just cause they want it. I am not judging you in any way shape or form. I just feel that it is not beneficial for my kids as they started becoming more materialistic.
For me personally, we go on vacation 3-4 times a year. Alhamdolillah, we go for Umrah every year with all 4 kids. Go to the states to meet grandparents, aunt, and uncles. We probably spend more on vacation but I feel this is something they will look back at as wonderful memories.

My husband and his family are here in AD, but all of my family (parents, expectant sister and sister-in-law, cousins, etc.) are all in the States. Today I'm 11 weeks 4 days with my first. Sincerely excited... Thankfully the late night heart-burn I've had for the last month is subsiding, but there are still foods I'm afraid to go near for fear of nausea! I've been having strange dreams lately...anyone else? -Amanda

Interesting topic. And well said plain Jane.
As a genuine curiosity what would identify a school or it's students as spoilt, is it the school classifying itself as elite or by sending kids to trips overseas that would egg parents to show off so they feel they fit in?
Is it the price point of the parents wallets that would determine? Or the nationalities and what they can afford to do for their kids (such as the birthday partie venues).

Hi Jetsetz,
we have been living in limestone for nearly 9 months now and we're not sure about renewing our contract. I totally agree with everything you listed about the place. The location is perfect for us since husband works in the DIFC and the finishing is not bad as well. However, since you're considering buying i would strongly advice you to think twice about the light and the windows matters. It gets very dark here and not being able to open the windows and get some fresh air adds to the problem. Sometimes we feel suffocated here even though we were aware of all of this and thought it would be ok, but it's not i'm afraid!
Also, we've heard that landlords have to pay a lot for the service charge (around 50,000 aed). Hope this helps, please let me know if you have other questions.
Hope you find the perfect place!
