I went probably 8 years back without kids - certainly could not call it boring... Was great travelling through the country - its actually pretty hectic, very cheap, amazing food and people etc, lots of historical sights / museums etc if you like that sort of thing? .... I have kids now and it wouldnt be on my list for a kids venue unless you are thinking of stopping in one spot (they have great beaches) or doing an organised tour (if your kids would tolerate that?) Not sure how old they are though... hope this helps
