Hi

This is my first post, so I hope someone can help please....

I am moving to Dubai in July with my husband and 2 children.

At the moment in the UK I run a business selling personalised Invitations, for Birthday parties, Religious events and Weddings, I would like to continue this over in Dubai. Do you think this would be of interest in Dubai and also can anyone reccomend a good printing company, we are looking at living in Jumeirah.

Thanks in advance
Dawn

Hi Ok, so if If the short term If I don't plan to sell in Dubai, just continue my business back in the UK - so I will design my items sitting in Dubai and then I will be emailing my printing company in the UK and they will print my orders out for me and send to my UK customers I will NOT need a Licence BUT if I plan to sell ANYTHING in Dubai I will need a licence Sorry please can someone clarify this for me? Dawn Legally, yes. To do any kind of business you need a licence. BUT, there are fairs, flea markets and other school night markets, where you can sell items and will not be asked for a licence.

Dawn - I don't want to be a party pooper here but if you are looking to start up your own business selling things here you will need a trade licence.... I think you can quite safely sell at ARTE or the flea markets ( There is no way all those ladies selling handmade things have licences!) If you simply MUST get a licence and dont need to set up shop anywhere, there are tons of agencies who can get you a freezone licence for as little as 17,500 AED per year. please check www.creativezone.ae www.vz.ae www.signature.ae Dawn, there is no need to get things printed in the UK, it will only ADD to your cost, there a excellent printers dime a dozen here.

aaah, of course, i never even thought of the bottom of the kisses! TikTok, you can get those stickers, but i think you want to stick something that you have already printed right? So that might mean cutting out really small annoying circles, probably with a thank you or some weddingy kind of return gift.. I think your best bet would be to get a small rubberstamp with your letters, then print on small stickers that you can buy anywhere, insead of printing on A4 paper, and then cutting out circles..

Hi 9714 - Thanks for your reply. I print some at home on a inkjet printer as I do like the gloss finish on my photo invites but I do also have some printed out on digital. I was hoping maybe to go digital, so I would design the invite and then the buyer would be able to print at home themselves. Once I'm over if you dont mind me contacting you maybe you could please point me in the direct of the event organisers etc that maybe interested - I'm not sure if I can post links on here as I currently sell on Ebay in the UK so you can see some of my products. TIKTOK - I think you are wanting to have the labels on the kisses on the bottom - this is not something I sell but from what I have seen you can but the small stickers that will fit on the bottom - the stickers are a bit small but I know that they are 1.5" and there will be 20 stickers to a sheet - hope this helps Dawn <em>edited by Dawn74 on 25/05/2011</em>

Hi 9714 , since you are in the business can you advice me if there is anyvway of cutting personalized print/cutouts for hershey's kisses, i need around 100+ of them and manually cutting them is such waste of time, are there any sticker sheets of same size/diameter that i can buy and get the job done much faster, your guidance will be highly appreciated, TIA P.S. (Dawn sorry for hijacking but im lil desperate) Hi tiktok, Sorry but i am unclear about the shape you are looking for? Hersheys individual kisser are kind of tear drop shaped, is that your image? the small one? single dimensional image right? what is the substrate or paper? foil? What do you intend to do with them? to cut shapes in hundreds it is best to get them die cut, but not sure thats what youre after, or even the sizzix machine, but please could you elaborate on the size and actual shape.

hi Dawn, Welcome to Dubai! What kind of printing are you exactly looking for? Offset, digital, embossing? hot foil? Some great offset and digital printers here are spectrum (DIFC), they have some other branches too. Al Suwaidi, XEROX and Kinko's in Dubai also offer good services, and excellent turnaround time (they are also 24Hrs!) so have come in handy when i have sat up all night trying to make last minute design changes. I print at home, and specialise in Letterpress printing, on a vintage table top press and soon am getting my own windmill!, I print on treefree cotton paper, and lots of inky hands! unfortunately It takes time to print, so dont do a lot of commercial work, but more bespoke christmas cards and stuff. there are some great event organisers in dubai, and even some good party planners, and a HUGE group of scrapbookers too, So perhaps you can make invitations for them? I do get asked to make invitations all the time, but find that my makeready is not worth for just a handful of invitations. So i do pass them on to digital. <em>edited by 9714 on 25/05/2011</em>
