I was a bit surprised to find the new Wellington school has KS1 and 2 sizes of 28 children. Is this normal in Dubai? I was expecting to find 20-22

DAA is a GEMS school and the class sizes are no where near that large. Yes. My DD is also in a GEMS school and the class sizes are not that big. GEMS is a schooling company that provides schools for all different budgets: the less you pay, the bigger the class size. So why am I paying the same as DAA? - just looked it up If the DSO Wellington School has 28 kids in a class, you need to ask them if that is just temporary. If that is the way it's going to be, you should change your child's school if you are paying about 40,000 dirhams a year.

My son attends the FS1 at the Wellington in DSO. They are 18 in his class and I know for a fact that the school has a 22 children per class policy... DSO is where I was talking about my children year 2 and 4 have 28 per class - year 2 has an assistant but not year 4

My DS was in FS2 at JPS last year, his class size was 24, and going into Year 1 they combine 7 classes into 6, with class sizes of 27. He is now in Year 1 at a GEMS school in the UK with a class size of 14, still with a full time teacher and TA. I think GEMS class sizes in Dubai are shockingly high! edited by Scribs on 16/11/2011

That's not normal at all and I am very surprised. My DD's class size is 18 students to 2.5 adults and I am happy with that.

I enquired for a year 2 place and was told the maximum per class would be 28. This was back in January so may have changed.

Thank you for that I did suspect this was the case although FS1 may be different?
