I use DHL on iherb, I don't pay any customs, as long as your order is below $360 you don't pay any additional charges, I order in bulk (raw honey, seeds, sunblock, vitamins, etc) to save on delivery cost. The price on iherb is 1/3 the prices of the same items here. If prices are 1/3 lower I think a good solution for avoiding customs would be divide your order in for example three or two orders done in differents days using your wish list. I do in this way. They always send your invoice by email so it is easy to print or email if you would need. I think Dhl know the value because it is written on the box you receive by Iherb with your shipping address.

They might be sending the invoice electronically to DHL, so DHL would have a record of the value of the order. Good point - especially for insurance purposes when its over a certain value.

The 5% duty is on anything over 1000AED, regardless of carrier, so approximately $270. Sometimes they miss it though and a larger shipment might go through without being flagged. As for iHerb specifically, as part of their "green" initiative, they do not include a packing slip with your order (email only), so I don't know how DHL calculates the value. I guess if the order is large, they just assume its over a certain amount..?

This is what DHL told me when I had to pay once, my bill was 390, but it's better to double check , my last order was 255, so I'm not really sure, since I had to pay I make sure not to go above 250

Wickedangel_78, are you sure the limit is 360USD? I was told by DHL that the limit was 270 USD. Anything above that will attract 5% customs duty.

I wanted to order some teething gel from iHerb which SweetLily reco'ed on an earlier thread. Do folks normally use the DHL or international shipping option? Price is ballpark the same. TIA. This One? http://goo.gl/SQ3dVU I have no children, but I am trying to get pregnant :) Any advice? I am 10 years married! Please pray for me! :) I love these clicky keys !!!!!!! http://goo.gl/m1o2qU I use this no-foam Toothpaste, http://goo.gl/qYjIR8 taste is "extrange" but I like results on my teeth. I usually use International Airmail for avoiding Customs. It depends on each country. International Airmail has no No Tracking & Non-refundable ! International Airmail with Tracking... is a safer option. You choose :) ! edited by BARBIE4U on 02/09/2014 edited by BARBIE4U on 02/09/2014
