Congratulations-fantastic news!
Initially saw the doc at AR when I was 6wks and she wanted to scan me but I refused....I chose a doc at AMerican hosp and though not required she scanned me and gave me my picture of my 'blob in a blob'! But in reality it doesn't tell me much...yes I was pregnant but until 12wks there's not much to see. I switched doc but stuck with American hosp, dr Braithwaite, and I'm very happy.
Books-I have Lucy Atkins book too which is great, but doesn't cover birth so I downloaded Christine hills pregnancy guide on kindle. Was great to give a full overview without too much detail to scare me! The iPhone apps are great, I love health and parenting pregnancy...great info source.
Exercise....I was losing weight before I conceived so was doing 2hrs a day 5-6times a week, but was too exhausted in 1st tri so kept up walking the malls and walkways near me when I felt ok. After 10wks I felt so much better I got back to the gym. I'm 35wks now and do prenatal Pilates, yoga and 2 gym sessions per week, then I walk most days if I don't get to the gym. I feel like I'm 'training' for birth rather than waiting for birth...feel much better and not suffered prolonged aches/pains...just tired backache if I stand too long. If you can keep exercising....lay off high impact, but cross trainer/lighter weights/etc are good and I love prenatal Pilates-highly recommend it!
In the meantime, try and sleep at lunchtime...even 15mins in the car will help (set timer on phone so you don't oversleep)...first couple of times you may feel worse afterwards but your body will get used to napping.
And for every symptom and question...enjoy the journey! When it gets hard, just think that this will be the closest you'll ever be to your baby and smile:):D

I have also just found out that I am pregnant and have been to see the Dr at Arabian Ranches. She has also suggested to me that I have a 7 week scan. I only have medical insurance up to the value of AED 20 000 so I'm wondering if I should go this early for a scan as I don't want to exhaust my insurance before I even give birth.
How do you cope with the tiredness? I mean, im half way through my day and want to cry im so exhausted and i work in finance, so i have a stressful busy day. :( Literally need to sleep under my desk!
Congrats!!!
Unfortunately, there's little you can do to deal with the fatigue beyond making sure you get to bed as early as possible at night. I've known I was pregnant every time before taking a test due to the fatigue!
Rest assured that it'll subside when you make it to the 2nd trimester. That's, by far, the best part of pregnancy.
Thanks so much.
Yeah am normally a healthy eater but trying to be very good since im feeding the little one - shouldnt be eating junk!

Might go back to spinning as can control how hard i work and keeps me toned - good advice!
Thanks, so exciting yet exhausting
So glad for you! As angeljoy says...you will get a lot of advice on here! Regarding exercise I can tell you what I did with all three of my pregnancies. I went from high impact and high cardio vascular to low impact exercise but stayed with high cardio as much as I could.I was fairly fit before my pregnancy.Being very tired the first trimester,I just did what I could and kept going.Did a lot of spinning and swimming. When I was sure the pregnancy was healthy and good and without problems,I went back to my usual running, just much slower but still did 7 km a day,5x a week till, believe it yes...8 months when I just felt too big to go running any more.Swam and spinned till the end.Had a weight gain of 10-12 kg with each of my 3 babies and got back to normal weight fairly quick! Those were the days! I think the emphasis here is on being fit before the pregnancy and maintaining it,not GETTING fit when pregnant! But a good bit of low impact exercise is very good always IF in good health. Eat healthy as well, you are feeding your child for 9 months through your intake! Try only the best! Fruit and not tooo much chocolate, whole grain and not white, etc etc! Love every moment...a miracle is in the making and he/she is YOURS! :)
congratulations :)
you'll get lots of help on this forum from lovely ladies here :D
for exercise if your doc has suggested nothing strenous then don't do anything. after few days you'll start feeling tired so wouldn't want to do anything. apart from walking i used to do gentle yoga to keep muscles engaged. you can do swimming too. join some prenatal classes.
for doc you have to go and see 2-3 doc and then see with whom you are comfortable. if you have insurance then clear with the insurance company first about the limit. the more ultrasound you get more you exhaust your limit to be left any for delievery.happened with me first time. more then half of my limit was already exhausted in 3 months!
as for books you have plenty to choose from. my preference was first time parents by Lucy Atkins. it was really nice and simple handbook which still comes in handy (my baby is 11 month old)
i used to read mostly articles on babycenter and kellymom and offcourse the forum here.
Ladies,
So i am newly pregnant (YEAH) and feeling ok, headaches (thinmk its more caffeine withdrawl than the baby), constant back ache and tiredness but no ilness so far......
I am slightly confused with few thigns if you dont mind helping me out>
Exercise- i used to go to the gym couple times a week, and do weights and cardio but doctor said nothing strenuous for 1st trimester just in case but i dont want to get fat and lazy so besides walking (when i have energy) what can i do?
I went to a doc in Arabian Ranches to get my blood test confirmed and they booked my scan which will be at 7+ weeks with her. Now, don't think she delivers so how to move docs? Is it ok to visit with some different ones first before deciding? i've been advised to see either Dr Raj in American or get on the waiting list for Dr Else (july list)...... which is better?
Finally, what books are good to read? dont want to waste money on books if they are useless or kinda scary with 'what ifs'.....
Thanks!!
HopefulA
