I have been looking for volunteer opportunities over the past 6 weeks after what seems like sending lots of unanswered emails i am starting to loose hope! I am a qualified teacher with safeguarding & SENCO experience and training. I am looking for opportunities in the afternoons anytime after 3 in the afternoon as well as weekends. If anyone knows of any organisations who are currently looking for volunteers of any nature - I am a humanitarian at heart therefore am not searching for only women and children based charities and would be enthusiastic to help with any causes :) Thanks everyone.

Hi Helen, You can check out our Charity News page for the latest opportunities http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_charities.aspx The Riding for The Disabled were definitely looking- there's always someone needing help. You'll also find links to all the Dubai support and charity groups- we're sure someone would love some help! HTH edited by admin on 21/04/2013

I was a volunteer with sailability at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club. they teach special needs children to sail. You don't have to be a sailor (but it helps!) as there are lots of shoreside activities you can help the children do. I used to do a Wednesday morning but if you contact them I think they do have some sessions in the afternoons now too. A great team of ladies (and a few guys too) and a super group of lovely children and their carers. I loved my Wednesdays I think I got just as much out of it as the children did! A win/win situation working with like minded people. there is nothing better than seeing these children get into a boat and feel free with the wind in their faces. They will be winding up the season soon because of the heat but you might be able to go to one of their sessions and see if you think you can help. they start up again Sept/October when the schools all go back. contact details are on their website. http://www.dosc.ae/sailability-volunteering/
