I recent stumbled upon the most amazing natural help for my problem. Brazil nuts! google it, read about it. All you need is 2-3 nuts a day and you will feel soooooo much better. I started two weeks ago and my energy levels are up, my bowel is moving (sorry but this is BIG issue with those who suffer) and I feel generally more alive.....I thought I might share...

Hi all! Newbie here, posting after much desperation. Have suffered nearly 10 years from hypothyroidism but the levothyroxine in itself has never helped my symptoms stay at bay. Always bouncing up and down on dosage from 50 to 100mg. Hair loss is crazy, feeling cold and sleepy etc doesn't help with little ones to look after! My most recent test showed tsh at 8 86 ... t3 at 1.1 and t4 at 22.. I'm guessing I have a conversion issue of t4 to t3? The averase gp here in dubai doesn't seem to be very clued up on this issue. I'd be grateful if anyone could provide a personal recommendation on who they went to recently to be prescribed t3 and also how much it cost them. TIA xxx

Also, Intelligent Health has good open minded doctors, give them a call first to see whether they can help you with your health issues, which I am sure they can.

I've been trying to find a doctor in Dubai who deals with patients taking T3 or NDT but I haven't found a good one. Currently seeing Dr. Donatella and I want to stop seeing her but first I need a new doctor that can help me. Any thoughts? I'm desperate!!!! Also, is anyone here on NDT? If so, where do you buy it online? ( I know they don't sell it in Dubai). Please, please, please, any help would be greatly appreciated

Firstly good news. Myself and another Ew lady are setting up a website/ forum for UAE thyroid sufferers. We hope to be live in next month or so. Will keep you posted. There are so many of us here suffering so hopefully we can all help each other. My dr is away on vacation but I will email with his details . Also one of the previous posters is absolutely correct. The role of .reverse t3 is actually so important and hardly ever taken into consideration. Through a lot of detective work I have found a lab here in Dubai that will test for .rt3. My dr is not an expert but he has an open mind, non judgemental and believes in NDT and the role of T3 and that is huge. He didn't know much about it when I went to him, but we worked with a functional medicine specialist in London and learned with each other along the way. He is fully supportive of my doing this website. The biggest issue we face here is that we have to source our own meds but it is well worth it in the long run. He will give you a script but he can't bring them in himself. The other thing that I can't stress enough is keep your iron intake up. So called normal values are not enough for us Right now I am a little out of balance and struggling with a few issues because my iron levels dropped while I was away for my daughters wedding. Look forward to connecting when we are up and running Hello Dubaidesertbear.... Would it be possible to know who is your doctor? I've been trying to find an open-minded doctor that works with T3/NDT but haven't been able to find one. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks Dancingmama! I appreciate your feedback. The Doctor who prescribed this for me is Dr Anna Sepiolo from Dubai London Clinic. She is great. You can also call the Compounding Pharmacy in Healthcare City and ask which doctors they work with.

Axelle , I haven't heard anything about the compounding pharmacies medication but would be interested to here about it and who prescribes . Dr D also suffer with hypothyroidism so has taken the meds and knows what it does and how we feel . I wasn't prepared to go AIP for a long time but now I am following it I wouldn't go back . I feel so well .

just one more question Dancingmama (or others who take T3) if you don't mind. Do you think the T3 and T4 you take from American hospital is similar to the one I take from compounded pharmacy? If not, what is the difference?

I changed my medication from T4 only to combination of T3 ( available at american hospital , Dr Donatella ) and T4 along with alot of supplements and a complete change of diet to follow the Auto Immune Protocol . 12kg down and feel fabulous, thyroid / hashi symptoms gone . thanks Dancingmama! Is Dr Donatella good with treating Hashi or do you have to guide her yourself in tests to be taken? Unfortunately I am not insured with American Hospital but if she is an expert, then i will consider. I was recently on T3plusT4 too (2 grains) from the Compounding Pharmacy in Healthcare city. My Dr now told me to stop as I showed signs of overdose (heart palpitation and nervous) and since my iron was extremely low last week, we are now trying to get that up first. Since iron has a major impact on thyroid, we are trying to see what that will give first. I know about the AIP protocol but I am not ready to go that far yet, I am very thin and with such limitations on food, not sure if that would be healthy for me. I am very light on gluten - dairy and eat very clean overall. I did remove cafeine and that helps already.

I am on both T4 and T3 and I feel great - for the first time in years, up at at 6am without having to drag myself out of bed! I'm more alert and feel quite "normal" again. I take iron daily - double dose one week, single next and double next. My doctor told me that helps to keep stores high. I still gain weight easily and if I indulge one day, it shows on the scale the next day. However, I have the energy to exercise so that helps. Me too. I've been on this for about three months and I am a new person. What I noticed the most is that my energy levels seem to stay constant, which makes life a lot easier with the family.

Through the mail. But big thing is you have to be stable on your NDT or T3 have your adrenals and all other issues optimal before you even contemplate LDn. There are some really good forums about starting and using LDN on Facebook. I know for certain my dr would not contemplate giving you a letter until you had been under his treatment for at least 6 months and he was happy that you were stable with all your meds, iron d and b vitamins insulin resistance etc. you cannot take any heavy pain meds or steroids at all when using LDN edited by Dubaidesertbear on 06/09/2014

Please come and join us, be it Graves, Hashimotos or just hypo and hyper the more information we have the more we can help each other, all autoimmune diseases are linked. I am having huge success with LDN treatment . Anyway we can help each other with these miserable diseases and lack of understanding for the most part by medical fraternity I say let's do it. I am traveling so if I don't reply straight away I will get back to you as soon as possible. Will be back in Dubai next week Do you get that here? LDN I mean? edited by Guinness2 on 04/09/2014

Not sure on the graves. people don't specify on Facebook and we haven't met up yet as we thought it best to wait till after summer. However a lot of the info that we post is pertinent to autoimmune ,be it graves or Hashimotos
