I'm really concern about my hair :(
I have a thick hair and always have been the one that everyone always envy me because of my hair. I know there have been many discussion about the hair fall and I have read them all. Two months ago I purchased water filter and was hoping for my problem to go away! But no change :/
So what is happening with my hair is that I still have thick and healthy hair BUT, the middle of my frontline right where the widows pick would be in an area of 2x2 cm in thinning out so fast I'm afraid that soon everybody is gonna notice that. :(
This started since I got to Dubai or it MIT be because I'm getting older!!!!????
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
What should I do? And whom should I see???

I've been using a product called Malibu C hard water treatment for the last couple of months, which I order on line. It strips the minerals out of the hair and gets rid of the orange tones in my blonde hair. It feels softer and I don't use as much shampoo to get a decent lather. And I get a massive amount of lather which I love. Apparently in the desalination process there are a lot of minerals which makes the water hard. I love this product and have tried their shampoos which are ok but wouldn't order again, I prefer the Moroccanoil in combination with the Malibu C because it leaves my hair soft and shiny, really shiny. It's also helped with the amount of hair I lose by about half although I have very thick hair. Do you order them here in Dubai? From where?

I would suggest that you consult a doctor at Dr. Batra's clinic located at Dubai Healthcare City for any hair related issues....

I had the same problem this summer but strangely it started after I left the UAE for the summer and the water here. I also have thick hair and have NEVER lost hair in my life before. Most people complain it happens when they move here that they lose hair but for me it was 2 weeks after going home for the summer and being here for more than 4 years now. I saw a doctor about it only last week after massive hair loss. There are a few reasons why this is happening. It can be stress related. It can be following a weight loss. (I recently had lost about 12 kilos.) It can be hormonal. it could be a fungal infection of the scalp. It can be a few months after a major event (death, illness) The fact that it is in the part of your hairline and not a general hair fall suggests to me that it is hormonal. I think you need to go and get your thyroid checked. Mine came back normal so really there is nothing more I can do but see if it passes. My hair loss has been over my whole head and not one area. So sorry. I know it is hard to lose hair. :( edited by Coriander on 27/09/2013

Hey Ladies So i went to the consultation yday afternoon...the lady used some sort of magnifying device, it was really good as i managed to see the texture and health of each hair. However my feelings were right, as she took the device towards my scalp it showed how far apart each hair was growing from another, meaning its thinning. She told me head and shouldres isnt a good shampoo to use (may have just been a selling technique). She then showed me some products i could use but unfortunatelt i cant use them as i am pregnant and will be breastfeeding. Im now just gna google what fruit is best for hair growth, blend them up and have it everyday. My MIL does this since forever and her hair it so thick its unreal.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? What should I do? And whom should I see??? I was crying about hair fall until a month ago. I have finally found the solution to it and would like to share it with everyone here! :D First of all, STOP WORRYING! The more you worry, the more the hairfall. Secondly, stop applying everything to your hair. Something that works for everyone might not work for you. For instance, Head and Shoulders has helped me with my hair fall problem but makes it worse for my mum. Another thing that has made a huge difference to mine and most people's hair is the egg treatment. I tried it after someone mentioned it on EW and it has worked wonders for me. Its just a mixture a mixture of one egg and juice of one lemon. Next, try to eat loads of fruits and reduce sugar intake. My mum gives me this glass full of milkshake with all the fruits she can find at home. Doesn't always taste the best but I somehow gulp it down :P Lastly, make sure your scalp is clean and dandruff-free. Dandruff can make hair fall worse. To get rid of it, once a month I do this olive oil+ lemon juice treatment. You have to massage olive oil into your hair and after an hour, massage in the lemon juice. Keep it for an hour and shampoo your hair regularly. I find that Head & Shoulders works best to completely get oil out of your hair. Oh one more thing, limit using blow-dryers and straighteners. I got myself one of those standing fan and I sit infront of it for like 10 mins and my hair gets dry without using any heat products. Just try that once in a while. I had almost chopped off my entire hair due to hair fall+thinning problem and I can totally relate to what you are going through. I do think that the water plays a huge role in hair fall but so does the air-conditioned environment and your diet. Finally, after 4 years, my hair has become thicker (at least compared to what it was before). edited by Flames92 on 27/09/2013

What should I do? And whom should I see??? Ram I'm getting older as well ;) But I agree with the vitamin D. I try and get a bit of direct sun everyday (5-10 mins, even if it's just standing on the balcony) and have noticed that my hair hardly falls out now and I feel healthier to boot. I used to notice handfuls on my pillows a few years back and my plugholes were full. You could have a test to see if you have low vitamin D levels (very common over here), and if you can't get in the sun get a supplement from the pharmacy. But if you get the chance get out and about in the sunshine a bit now that the weather is cooling off and see if you notice a difference.

It could be stress, change in diet or some hormonal change. It might just be temporary, I have times when my hair falls out more for a few months and then it gets back to normal again. Spend more time in the sun to get some vitamin D and take good quality multivitamin supplements for a few weeks. Many Drs recommend it.
