I think perhaps another 'bubble' is on its way. Expo is still another five YEARS away. At the rate things are moving, I think we're reaching the limits again.

I don't think an influx of crowds has anything to do with Dubai winning the Expo. It's peak season for the UAE for tourism and that is reflected by everything we see around us at the moment, hotels were at 80% occupancy for December, and malls and restaurants are generally very busy with tourists. All of which means better GDP for the UAE and a better economic outlook for all of us and our jobs. :) Rents and property prices continue to rise - as long as these are kept in check with nothing too rapid and as long as employers are monitoring this and keeping it in mind when it comes to annual salary increases and inflationary increases then the UAE continues to be a great place to live and work. I think many people who could afford to live in a villa or a bigger property during the 'down' years are now finding themselves in a situation where they have to move to a smaller property better suited to their budget. It's also interesting to see that more people are thinking of buying property instead of renting.

So how are you ladies finding things post-Expo?! Back then there were people warning to be cautious as things could get rough but they were drowned out by the cheerleaders ! As for the crowds, there has been a huge influx of tourists over last 2 months, and February through May will be quieter I have been to Dubai Mall on weekday nights and it has been busy but you can tell that 80% of the people were tourists

Can't be...TV is on, official site on...nothing yet officially!! I don't deny that -- but I'm watching West Wing (again lol) on the telly -- and following the live blog on Gulf Business. THEY announced that Dubai had won already. Then they deleted the post/update and delivered a great big wodge of egg to my face. Oops.

Cross my heart, it was there and now it's been deleted! Bizarro! Someone obviously jumped the gun. Grrr! And led me astray. Sorry, everyone. :( . edited by LadyBee on 27/11/2013

Logically, since Dubai has 52.73% of the votes, cannot lose! Even if all Izmir's votes go Yekaterinburg... We've won. It's been announced on Gulf Business already. Link? Because I don't see it!
