Fatimasaq I'm so sorry to hear your son is going through this, can you organise some pain relief for him? All i can find is a cancer charity, it may be worth contacting them and asking if they have any specialist nurses and counselors you can speak with who may be able to help with your needs. here is the link http://www.cancer.ae/ http://www.makeawish.ae/ Maybe a British nurse who is living here (licensed) may see your post and offer some help if they are experienced in the sort of support you need. Wishing you all strength during this time. xx edited by Lolacat on 27/03/2014 edited by Lolacat on 27/03/2014

Fatimasaq, you asked in a past post about Nienmann Picks and I'm wondering if this is what your son has been diagnosed with. I'm not sure if you have come across these websites, they may be of help and they have forum facilities that may be of some support and help with your questions better than here. (apologies if this is not the case) http://www.niemann-pick.org.uk/ http://www.niemannpick.org.uk/about_us/about_us.html http://www.nnpdf.org/ I can find very little as far as support for sick children here in the UAE, but there must be something, or at least i hope so. Emirates nursing sounds a good place to start with helping you and they may or your doctors know more re support groups to help you. I wish you all the strength in the world during this very difficult time. You're right. and I am already following the websites and many more. Thank you for taking time to respond and your kind words and wishes. Alhamdulillah as far as support from the doctors and my family is concerned I am blessed. But they can only do so much. As you can see in the websites you mentioned the families in UK and US have far more support where nursing and such is concerned. I hope we have something like that here soon. There is some news about a whole community being built where such facilities will be available. Dunno when though.

Hello, Sorry to Hear about your son. Have you tried emirates British nursing they do home visits as do health bay clinic nurses do home visits. Can you not ask the nurses in the hospital to train you to put in the ng tube, in the uk the parents would be trained to put it back in and given a teaching pack and signed off . It's quite comprehensive and you'd need to do so many before you were signed off. I understand its hard on your our own child. Take care X Thank you so much. now I have at least a direction. I will be sending an email to Emirates British nursing.. wish me luck. when I was sent home on 15th Jan this year, it was just with a pat on my back. no guidance nothing only the normal feeding him like this and if there is any problem come to the ER. but that is no walk in the park. \it is just so frustrating! I just want to give my son comfort. he was a happy boy with a great appetite, not a fussy eater at all and now he is just on pediasure thru the ng tube. He was also going to a mainstream school and now is bedridden and lost his speech as well.

I don't believe there is a hospice movement in Dubai, however Tawam Hospital have palliative care, so you could try them. Otherwise, there are a couple of home care companies that may be able to help with tube feeding. Try Medcare Hospital. Thank you desertdoc. I have a 11yr old who on pediasure through ng tube and for changing or replacing it if he removes it I have to rush to the hospital. I reaaly hope there is some alternative

Hello ladies, Anybody has an idea whether hospice services for children are availble here...or perhaps someone trained in tube feeding, etc who can do house visits.
