Can anyone advise me on a good estate agent to contact from the Uk. My husband is moving out to Dubai in August and I'm hoping to come out for a weekend in sept to view properties to rent but I have no idea who to contact to arrange viewings in advance.

oh sooo true about Manco. We were very happy to deal with Najma (don't know for sure how to spell her name). Very nice girl. I don't know what areas she covers, but we were looking for a villa for rent in Jumeirah, and in 5 days she found a very good option. 0553399079

I've recently just found a property (renting) with Marie from MANCO: http://www.manco-realestate.com/ She covers a large area and can honestly say I've never dealt with a more helpful agent than her since living in Dubai (and moving 3 times before)

Am I right that the airport you are talking about is Maktoum rather than Dubai International? If so Jebel Ali would be good choice, or the Meadows?

My husband is working out past the airport but he is used to a two hour commute each way in the uk so anything less than that is a bonus! The kids have been accepted at safa community school. Although I have been offered a place for one of them at jebel Ali but they can't guarantee a place for my youngest so we are undecided as to what to do. Lots of people are saying jebel Ali is fantastic but do we risk having two kids in different schools and I have been told the traffic is bad around that area! As far as area goes I think it would be sensible to be close to schools we need a three bed villa with study / 4 the bedroom for a max budget of 190000. I have been in contact with Jess already from allsopp but I wanted to get another agent to compare to. As lovely as a property near the beach would be I'm not sure that will be within our budget!

It can depend on where you want to live as there are specialists for the different areas. If you are thinking about Jumeira i recommend laMaison Real Estate who helped me and a couple of friends find houses. They have a website with contact details and current properties. Look on Dubizzle for an idea of what is available at what price and look on the expatwoman housing section which describes the different areas. Where will you/husband be working, kids at school? do you want apartment or villa, near the beach, modern or character, gated community or independent etc And of course budget!
