I'm just wondering if anyone knows if an iPhone 4 bought here in UAE will work in Canada? I know I will have to get a different charger but will the difference in voltage be a problem?

TIA

I recently used my Iphone in Vancouver with my Dubai SIM card with absolutely no problem! You can also buy a Canadian SIM card easily by completing an application.

Charging is not a problem you can charge from a laptop or buy a local plug for the wall. But do you mean use in Canada with your UAE sim card or with a Canadian sim card? If you want to use a Canadian sim card there may be some issues. iPhones in the UAE tend to be the same as the UK GSM model. Not sure about the iPhone 4 but with regard to the iPhone 5s that is model A1457. The bands covered are: 1 (2100 MHz) 2 (1900 MHz) 3 (1800 MHz) 5 (850 MHz) [b'>7 (2600 MHz)[/b'> 8 (900 MHz) 20 (800 DD) Some Canadian networks use CDMA others are GSM. For Canada the model is A1533 which supports: 1 (2100 MHz) 2 (1900 MHz) 3 (1800 MHz) [b'>4 (AWS)[/b'> 5 (850 MHz) 8 (900 MHz) 13 (700c MHz) [b'>17 (700b MHz)[/b'> [b'>19 (800 MHz)[/b'> 20 (800 DD) [b'>25 (1900 MHz)[/b'> If you want to use a Canadian sim card then it is probably best to check with the network you intend on using if it is GSM or CDMA and what band they use.

All consumer electronics products - phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, camcorders, handheld video games etc - will work just fine on the mains voltage anywhere in the world. They're specifically designed to work internationally. If you look at your iPhone charger, you'll see in tiny letters "100-240V". The items that *don't* usually work internationally are the things that suck up a lot of current, like hairdryers, tongs, irons, kettles, that sort of thing. That's why you can buy specific "travel" versions of those, which are usually small and underpowered. edited by Madge_Gustard on 19/07/2014

Yes :D I'm currently in Canada and using/charging my iPhone 4. I mostly charge mine off the laptop but do charge it from the mains occasionally.
