Al arabiya (Arabic news channel) just said the UAE has announced that eid is tomorrow. It's been going for an hour on Al Arabiya, but local channels didnt announce it yet, but on Sharjah tv they stopped Taraweeh prayer & announced Eid an officially

Saudi Arabia has announced Eid for tomorrow. Usually UAE follows KSA so I think they will announce it soon as well. But moon is still hiding lol.

They will make the official announcement at 9pm tonight. My brother-in-law who's an astronomer (handy specialty!) said the new moon was "born" July 27 at 3am, but just waiting on physical viewing of new moon.

They will try to sight the moon tonight, if it is seen, Eid is tomorrow. If it's not sighted, we will complete 30 days. Don't go by what others report, it is way too early to decide anyway. It's still daytime.

I'm finding lots of conflicting dates, any definitive yet? I read that there will be an official announcement after 9pm tonight to say whether the moon was sighted or not, if sighted Eid will be tomorrow, if not then day after. I am placing my bets on tomorrow :) ETA I already saw in some parts of the world the moon has already been sighted and Eid announced (Nigeria)... although there is some confusion. http://www.nairaland.com/1830850/moon-been-sighted-sunday-july <em>edited by Alismum on 27/07/2014</em>

We are waiting for moon-sighting tonight. If confirmed, Private Sector will be off Mon/Tues. If it is not called tonight it will be Tues/Wed. Many companies though have already made the decision and informed their staff accordingly. It was looking pretty cloudy this morning which may have impacted sightings but it has cleared up now. Eid Mubarak to everyone!
