today's lunch was: Butternut squash pistou from the Moro East cookbook, served lukewarm with brown Arabic bread leftover home-made pizza w/ salami, grilled portabello, caramelized onion, basil, fresh mozz tomorrow's dinner: Vietnamese shaky beef served over chard leaves for me (trying to return to low carb diet) Indo-Chinese veg manchurian served w jasmine rice for DH pasta w creamy tomato sauce for kids DH has requested either Spotlight Cafe Brownies (from LA Times) or jumbo choc muffins w/ chopped mint choc pieces (to inaugurate my new jumbo muffin tin) in the coming week. last week I tried a baby potato (Australian chat potatoes), boiled beet, sliced cucumber salad w parsley and garlic vinaigrette from MIL's old Australian WW book and it was a light and refreshing dinner. Also made Stevie Parle's Potato Salade Nicoise (from Telegraph UK website) using Australian Chat potatoes and Lebanese Grape Tomatoes, it was fab with and without the fish! mrsb, my kids have refused rice for the past 6 months, eliminating biryani/ makboos from my dinner rotation.

When I don't know what to cook, I cook biryani or makboos - easy, delicious, and difficult to mess up. Hmm, I can mess up biryani spectacularly! Please post your fool proof recipe! :) DH and I are trying to lose our summer tummies so we'll mostly be having healthy salads all week. Beetroot/feta/walnut, Chickpea/coriander/couscous/pepper. Haven't got much further than that yet.
