can you advise the best kind of duvet to buy here - I have bought two and both make us sweat at night ;-(

All you can do is try it and see. I still feel that no matter what the Tog I'm too hot in summer for a duvet.

I just realized I packed our one from home its Duck down would that be too hot as I cant see a tog on it?

The lowest tog pure goosedown would be best - probably 2 tog. They feel gorgeous but are expensive.

I do the same as Geordieexpat, but that's because i already had the duvets and covers when we moved here. If i was buying, i would go for a flat sheet with a 100% cotton bedspread on top. The White Company sell nice ones and IKEA sell some basic ones.

During the summer, we just use the cover on it's own and then the duvet from around October till March/April. We'ver never managed a summer with a duvet yet. And the one we use in the winter is our old summer one from the UK <em>edited by Geordie expat on 17/09/2014</em>
