The Well Woman Clinic is really good, I see Dr Shereen Habib (British trained) but I hear all the doctors there are good. Tel: 04 332 7117. Dr Shereen referred me to a good dermatologist - Dr Carol LeCart (Belgium trained) who sorted out my acne problems. Tel: 04 362 4711

I would definitiely recommend Dr Carol Smylie, before you even start to do anything apart from the exercise and eating better.

It sounds like PCOS - excess hair and acne on the cheeks, chin and chest are typical symptoms. I have 2 friends who have it and they both have regular cycles and are not overweight Meds like spironolactone can help. In the meantime ditch dairy, it's know to make acne worse for many! do not use spironolactone as it is a medication that has to be monitored by serum potassium and has different indications. see an endocrinologist

Ps, in the meantime, drink loads of water, cut out sugar, eat lean meat, and as much fresh fruit, veg and salad as you can. Plus exercise!! Good luck. Thanks Sue R for advice will look up doctor and like you I want to research a GP before I go see them. I have also been recommended Dr Carol Smylie so will make an informed decision once I've read more. I am already eating better and cutting out alcohol since early in July - exercising at least 5 times a week and I'm feeling as healthy as I've been for a long time - my husband would like me to go for a complete health check with a Doctor who has given him a thorough medical including ecg and MRI for job - this I will do but not until I have these underlying issues with my hormones sorted. Thank you ladies for advice :)

I have seen Dr Delphine @ Motor City Medicenter. She is a GP with a post grad degree in Women's Health. Look her up on their website. I am someone who would research a Dr first and try and make an informed decision and I wouldn't hesitate to see her again. Lovely Dr. It does sound like a hormonal problem (in my non-expert opinion!!) and if it were me, I would go back and see her without any hesitation. Hope you get sorted. x

The dermatologist will just treat the symptoms while it sounds like a hormonal problem like PCOS. I'd see a GP or an endocrinologist first. I looked up the symptoms and I have some but not the main symptoms. I'm not overweight and I don't have high blood pressure, I also have a regular monthly cycle with generally very little pain. I think I will go see a GP - does anyone know a female GP that would be sympathetic and understanding. I'm happy to travel anywhere within Dubai to see someone and I have very good health cover so hopefully cost won;t be an issue. My self esteem is suffering and now even my son has started to notice my face has lumps and spots on it :(

Hi Ladies, I'm having lots of trouble with acne on my face especially on my chin. This has been slowly getting worse over the last 3 years and now its spreading to my neck and chest. I also have problems with coarse hair on my chin and i have on several occasions waxed them off but it's followed by more lumps appearing where the hair starts to grow back so I constantly have to keep pulling them out - I then start to constantly touch my chin to feel if there coming back which is making the situation even worse. I'm mid 40's and realise this is probably hormonal - my monthly cycle is still normal and my mum didn't hit menopause until she was well into her fifties and with very little symptoms. This problem is really hitting my confidence and although I have in the last couple of months started to eat more healthily take more exercise and reduce my alcohol consumption it appears to be getting worse. Should I start with a GP or see dermatologist or perhaps some other specialist. Where should I start and with whom? Your recommendations please :)
