Hi Ladies,

Anyone have a good recommendation for normal orthodic inserts for flat feet. I don't want to pay AED2500 for customized ones, I just want a bit of support in my running shoes, but doctor has suggested the expensive customized ones which I don't feel is necessary right now.

Any suggestions welcome.

xx

Yep, those are the ones. They probably aren't for everyone but definitely worth looking in to. I feel so much more agile and light on my feet in them. I love the reasoning behind them too.

Thanks Daza for the suggestion, are they those foot glove sock things? My brother in law is a PT and he was training in them and he got injured wearing them so I have not really thought much about them, but I will do a bit more research about your method, I have such big feet but and I can see me running in something like those, I think I would look a bit funny running in them, like I have flippers on or something haha! x

Hi SimpleDimple5 A bit off tangent but have you read Born to Run or any other of the barefoot running books? I changed to a pair or barefoot style running shoes a couple of years ago and once you get used to them the difference they make is amazing. Much less joint pain, injury etc and they feel so much better. There has been quite a shift in running circles in recent years about the amount of support feet actually need and what previously was considered 'problems' that need correcting with orthodics and extra support actually aren't problems at all. Sorry to get all preachy but it's made such a difference for me.

Hi I also have flat feet and didnt want to dish out so much on custom ones. I purchased these from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Superfeet-Womens-Berry-Premium-Insoles/dp/B004PLMB98/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1FB57BE2ZFRKQCDFHKM3 They were okay, and can be cut in the front to accomodate to all shoe shapes. You could try the green ones since they have high support and are for high shoes so should be fine for trainers. These berry ones I purchased have a medium arch but fit well into pumps. I still love the support my Birkenstocks give me. So I went to the one in Dubai Mall and they have insoles that are only for their clog type shoes and the salesman was a bit skeptical, but I use them for my skechers work pumps and they work great. They cost AED 100 make sure you take the shoes you will be putting them in along with you to fit them inside and try them, since the insoles are quite bulky you might need to wear a size bigger to make them fit. Good luck! edited by sourskittleashnut on 01/10/2014 edited by sourskittleashnut on 01/10/2014
