Don't we need to alter a couple of the messages below... There was almost a corniche all the way from Dubai Marine to Burj but come Sunday it will stop at Open Beach and another new development is going in... Beaches are nicer but there are now less of them that are accessible. There are LOADS of new schools opened/opening. There are lots of new mini malls going in being built along beach road. Original Lime tree at Ibn has closed and Carluccios is coming or is open.

Emirates Road is no longer Emirates Road, it is now Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road. The Bypass Road is no longer Bypass Road, it is now Emirates Road.

Rents, electricity etc are high School fees are very expensive Cost of living has increased Traffic is still **** ? A lot of the government depts have become electronic and it is nearly impossible not to follow the rules ? Clever traffic cameras in place now that can check your speed, registration and insurance, and whether you are wearing a seat belt or talking on the phone as you drive past Otherwise everything remains the same. Welcome back SalsB!

That's good news Sals, you haven't been too happy in Doha? What's changed in two years...hmm. Rents are a little higher, traffic is busier, Safa park is dug up all round the outside, JBR is nicer now with restaurants right on the beach, there's a running track right along Jumeirah Corniche from burj al arab to Dubai marine (nearly finished), there's a new Four Seasons hotel on Jumeirah Beach Road beside Dubai Ladies Club, Jumeirah Beach Park is closed, the Metroplitan hotel on SZR has been demolished and there is a new hotel in its place, there are lots of new developments in Jumeirah (City Walk etc) which have sprung up, there's a new Lime Tree Cafe on SZR, in fact probably too many nice new places to mention (Tom&Serg, the Pantry etc), new airport DWC is operational, parking in the Madinat is now paid only, MOE carpark has some construction going on inside, Um Suqeim St is fully open with roadworks finished, the Al Sufouh/Marina tram will start on 11th Nov, you can now go on the RTA ferry from Dubai Marina to Ghubaiba, Geant delivers online orders, there's a new Waitrose in Um Suqeim, Choitrams now has Tesco products. Done for now. :-P
