If you are house hunting, it is a good idea to try all the expatwoman coffee mornings so you can get ideas about different housing areas. The Jumeira coffee morning is tomorrow, 10-12 at the Mercato Mall. Ladies who come along live from Bur Dubai to the Palm so you'd get a good range of advice.

Well the first things to do - is get yourselves LOADS of passport photo's as you will need that for everything! and passport copies, and ID copies.... and a heap of patience.... Luckily I discovered this forum a couple of months before we moved, so we came prepared! Despite being a photographer myself and knowing how best to get a flattering shot, I still look so ROUGH in the 30-odd passport pics I brought with me!

I'm on the Palm Jumeirah while we look for a more permanent address. I've been here a week now and not really ventured out of the hotel - my own fault. I've mostly been watching downloaded stuff on my laptop and looking for somewhere to live! Would you ladies be up for meeting at the coffee morning next Monday? It's the one at 10am at Costa Coffee, Marina Promenade. edited by mrs13b on 03/11/2014

Hi been here five weeks and braved my first coffee morning last Thursday. Golf club location was lovely. Still quite lonely but having to wait in for things to be delivered doesn't help the socialising. Will be going again this Thursday. It's ok for the men they go off to work lots to do and people to talk to all day. But it is lonely in a flat in a place you don't know I can go all day with no one to talk to. Husband left today saying have fun, you have got to be joking!

mrs13b, welcome and hope you'll have a great stay here. Yesterday I've just thrown the latest move-in-box out of my apartment, 2 months before we were just in your place. Our to do list was like a never ending story, now we have only 2-3 things left to do, in terms of settling down. Wish you the same ease that we've had during your move in! See you in the coffee mornings.
