I am feeling very disoriented. I have never liked it this way and have never changed my stance. But a vote is the best way to go. The problem is most on EW are regulars who follow a particular thread as it runs it course, which can be anywhere from a single half-hearted reply to a full-blown, multi page catfight. To scroll every time instead of just getting the latest response will become very annoying soon.

Normally there's a pointer to show unread posts..this way you just have to keep scrolling through all the posts to find the newest...
