Is this in Semmer or Cedre and in the back garden or in the garage? What sort of size are you talking about here? Do you have approval in writing from before?

Yes it is very unfair particularly given that several of us have tried continually over the years to do the right thing and sort this out and when there are some that don't have permission and did not get a fine or asked to remove it. There is absolutely no consistency as all sheds are different. They don't seemed to be worried about who they let in nor the boats and general mess around the place. Nobody will answer a call nor take responsibility. They literally have their heads in the sand.

Fined for having a shed! Usually people have sheds so they can keep their gardens and villa organised and tidy and looking nice. Would the authority prefer people to have everything all over their gardens and looking messy? Seems very unfair and opportunistic to collect money, very unfair:(

Well after years of trying to sort this out I am no further advanced- Typical. When we moved in there was no DSO Authority to deal with. We had a shed, free standing and does not touch any walls so no damage to property. After a few years they came around and told us to take it down. We attempted to resolve this with them, by phone, visits to Headquarters and emails.Non of which resulted in anything. For years there was nothing and then 18months ago an EK Accom person and a DSO Engineer came to out Villa, inspected the shed, took photos and said it was OK. Then we were issues with the fine and told it had to go. Again weeks of emails, and phone calls, nobody wants to talk about it or take responsibility. They just hope you will go away. They are not consistent with the fines, some got them some did not, some with permission some not. They have even fined residents that have not lived in DSO for years, they said it was because you and a shed when you were a resident. Very frustrating and unnecessary and not a thing ail be done to try to resolve it. Good luck to those that got away with it and unfortunate for those that they are harassing. I am sure there would be more productive things to do than snoop around our Villas.

Are there community rules anywhere? You might want to ask to see the published regulations in which it is stated that sheds are prohibited. Everyone's trying to make a buck these days because [b'>Dubai is about to face a financial tsunami[/b'>. Could you please elaborate?

Just a thought....how do they know you had a shed? Did they have permission to enter your property? As long as when you leave the villa you remove the shed and remove garden etc (ridiculous rule I know to remove grass and plants) what difference does it make to them? Sounds like a money making scheme to me.....just like the rule that you can only use DSO "approved" companies to do cleaning, gardening etc.....has dodgy written all over it.

There was a company email sent out about this ages ago saying you had to have permission for sheds etc and that fines would be issued if not complied with so think they have covered themselves. Structures had to be within certain heights and not visible from outside property if I remember correctly.

Hello Ladies, Just wondered if anyone can assist here. Dubai Silicon Oasis have fined some residents 3000AED for having a shed in their yard. It is not consistant as some got fines and others did not. The fines have been passed onto Emirates who will deduct this from the December pay. Firstly do DSO have the right to fine anyone? Are Emirates able to deduct this from your pay? Thanks Ladies Are there community rules anywhere?
