Hi

Can anyone recommend a good place for Christmas and New year, somewhere where it is not too expensive and good entertainment? First xmas here and really want to see how Dubai celebrates this festive season.

Thank you :)

It depends what you are asking. Brunch/shopping etc. I like the Christmas market at the Madinat. Fake snow, hot wine, outdoors, a huge tree, little market stalls, it's really lovely. If you have children, Santa is at Wafi, but beware the queues are long! He also goes to other malls but Wafi generally pulls the crowds in as they have a nice setup (and a free coffee voucher!). Ice Skating, Ski Dubai for a cold atmosphere! A few hotels have carol singing in the evenings. Pretty much everywhere does a festive brunch. New Year is a whole different ball game and will depend on your location as the traffic is generally absolutely packed from 2pm onwards on 31st Dec!
