We are in Springs and are looking for new homes for our foster kitties. 2 x sisters are 12 months old, one is part Persian, the other is short haired tortoiseshell colour. The other pair are 5 months old, a ginger boy,and his sister. All 4 have been desexed. We are leaving Dubai soon, so really want them to go to loving homes, preferably with a garden to play in.

Agree Izzy, Maus are super affectionate and friendly, very different to our fluffier British DSH cats who can't bear being picked up! I have a gorgeous female Mau stray looking for a forever home. Just finished her jabs/spay so all set to go. Will give unlimited cuddles and purrs to a lucky owner!

To be honest - Maus are much more cuddly that persians..... If you want a fluffy; perhaps try a Turkish Angora or a Persian cross. There are lots on bin kitty at the moment. Thank you for the advise. :) I sent an email for bin kitty few days before but no reply yet sadley. and I commented on their adoption pictures which I loved to have with me. But no responce yet. Fingers crossed. edited by MM11 on 02/02/2015

Hi MM11, just wondered if you have ever owned a persian before or if you just like the look of them? If you have had one then please just ignore me :D But if not.... my friend had one, utterly gorgeous but phew, hard work or what?!! I looked after him for a fortnight whilst they went on holiday, never again! Needed brushing at least every other day or he got dreadlocks, could have really done with every day but I just simply didn't have the time, his eyes needed wiping with a damp cotton wool pad every day as he got all crusty and oh the dangleberries on his rear end... :\: he was fussy about his food, he pooed on the floor if there was already one poo in his lit tray... he needed more attention than a toddler! Now of course, the one you adopt may not be like that.... but it may be!!!! All the best with your decision, please do adopt though, and I agree with the other posters that say - go to an adoption day, you will be chosen by your new furbaby, not the other way round! ;) Hello, yes I love the look of them and have taken care one for a week same as you while my friend is away. I have plenty of time at home so I wouldn't mind doing all those dirty jobs to have cuddles from a furball :):)

and lets be honest persians are a pain; you need to brush them daily, they are sensitive eaters and unless you want to wipe their butts you have to give them a brazilian ;) edited by IzzyOnTheSeat on 28/01/2015 Lol, I never thought of it. Thank you for bringing this to my consideration! hahaha

definitely adopt. you can find so many breeds for adoption, so even if you are picky you will find what you are looking for on Bin Kitty Collective on Facebook, Feline Friends or other animal groups. there is a small donation for that, but is goes to a good cause + you get tuns of support :)

Or the FW that don't neuter or vaccinate their pets, then play the victim when they have kittens that die of panlu!!!!

Izzy, I agree, fluffy cats have never appealed to me. I never knew the local cats had been named [i'>Arabian Mau[/i'> and when I first saw you guys mention them on this board, I had no idea what you were talking about, had to google them! I think Maus are great, they're a natural breed so don't have the health problems that often afflict artificial breeds and I think they're very beautiful, plus loads of them looking for a home. It's just so sad that there aren't more responsible pet owners, people that leave their pets behind when they move shouldn't be allowed anywhere near animals.....

Please don't buy when there are so many cats who need a loving home. As Izzy says, there is an adoption day on Friday at the Dubai Garden Centre on SZR. Why not go there and support the great work by rescue organisations? You might find you fall in love with a beautiful Mau adult cat, but either way, please don't buy because by doing so, you are encouraging pet breeding which contributes to the grim predicament of abandoned cats.

Its better to get two kittens as they will play and socialise each other - come to the adoption day on Friday at Dubai Garden centre.... have a look at the cats / kittens there and talk to the fsoterers.

I recently rescued a white medium/long haired cat and took it to Vienna vets. It's probably the one dxbrun is referring to. Snowdrop (as they named her) is not Perisan, but she is still fluffy! I think she's a young cat, not a kitten - she had recently had kittens. But she is not very big. She was already microchipped and has now been spayed (and presumably vaccinated). She is a lovely friendly cat with people, and very calm. Scared of our other cats, so quite timid and would do well on her own I reckon. A young kitten on its own would be bored and wreck your home! I agree that you may be better off with a slightly older cat (or 2 kittens to keep each other company If you must have kittens). 38 smiles is having a garage sale at Vienne Vet, Al Thanya St, Umm Suqeim 2 on Saturday, and you would be able to meet her and some other cats then.

She thinks she is a dog :-) Runs to the door to greet us when we come home, comes when called, the minute someone sits down she cuddles up. I am now a 'crazy cat lady' as I spend a lot of time carrying her around when I am home and kissing her LOL

try the RAK rescue centre online, we got our gorgeous himalayan from there and they always seem to get lovely cats in there.

Another thumbs up for Bin Kitty from me. Though my husband might not feel the same after his tie met with a little "accident" last night.

I would say please look at kittens with an open mind, as very often the animal chooses you and not the other way around. The Arabian Maus are such adorable cats, with super personalities and are just adorable. I see so many dumped Persians, it's not even funny. Bin Kitty, Animal Actiona Abu Dhabi, SNIFF, Feline Friends, Sharjah Cats and Dogs shelter - all bursting at the seams with cats looking for their forever homes.

Adopt, please. There are so many cats and kittens who have been dumped and need homes. I saw a beautiful white Persian type cat at Vienna Vets yesterday who was dumped and is looking for a home. I'm not sure how old they were, but not a young kitten. Remember that kittens are very hard work and don't stay kitten like for long. Adopting a slightly older kitten will be easier and they're still very very playful and cuddly. There are many charities you can contact. Try 38smiles as they very often have abandoned fluffies looking for homes.

Take a look at Bin Kitty Collective FB page. There are many adorable kittens and cats looking for good homes. I'm sure you will find one or 2 that you'll want to take home with.

Adopt, adopt, adopt. Do NOT buy, you will be supporting unethical animal breeders.
