Do you mean the black face mask kind of thing? It is called "Niqab" and you can buy in every shop that sell abayas (the long black dress). They also have the golden face mask, which is traditional emarati, but only the elderly wear it. I would not call them "funny", but certainly unusual if you have not seen them before.
