Hi Seasand
Please have a look at my post several posts back where I recommended Dr Hassan Kadri at MedCare Orthopaedic Hospital. I have had 5 years post-operative problems following surgery elsewhere. Certain Drs recommended here are not Neurosurgeons and when you are talking about spinal surgery you have to be extra careful. Good luck!
seasand- I hope you get well soon, please keep us posted on your development. My DH has similar issue Disc Prolapse/Disc herniation (L5-S1) and has been visiting many Clinics . He is currently going to an Osteopath which hasn't improved the situation either.
I had posted similar question in forum and there are some recommendations against that post specifically detailed response from amelton.
My DH has not been able to visit Dr.Kadri yet but plan to do so. He had already visited Wooridul who are recommending surgery and as per them its not a complicated process yet most of our family and friends are recommending to avoid surgery specially in UAE.
I had to have major spinal surgery last year. Dr. Walter Bini performed the surgery and, although it was very scary for me, I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. He was at City Hospital but is now Chief of Neurosurgery at Umm Al Quwain Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital. I couldn't recommend his work highly enough.
Hi ladies. Since having an MRI scan for a lower back pain and having lots of Physio I returned to my GP as all seems pointless and not helping. GP said, in his opinion I would require an operation. Obviously this sounds very scary to me and also I have heard from a few people that some like to operate here as they get paid well by the medical insurances we have. Not sure if these are just rumours though. However I would like to know if anyone of you ladies could recommend a good back specialist I could go to that would give me an honest second opinion. Thanks in advance.
You should try see a chiropractic, is complimentary therapy that works. From my experience physiotherapy does nothing if you spine is not aligned as the muscles continue to pull. My whole family go the California chiropractic and sport center in healthcare city, what i like there is they do combination of physio and chiropractic therapy.
There was this thread recently which may be of help and also to suggest Up and Running on Al Wasal road as a second opinion.
Thread title to search was;
Feedback about Wooridul Spine Center - Dr Chan #Back Pain #Disc issue # Neurosurgeon # Disc Prolapse
This thread was about two pages back.
I've had that for years - causes me excruciating pain, usually when I've been lifting heavy weights, the spaces between the discs narrow trapping the sciatic nerve and the muscles inflame decreasing it further.
I haven't looked at a surgical yet as it's too invasive and I would only look at that, if I got to the point where it was seriously affecting my mobility.
The guys at I saw for physio were great for this and I had to rein in all my activities and do things a bit differently to protect my spine - I also have disc erosion and scoliosis. It is possible to help it without surgery, which as I said should only be looked at,as a complete last resort.
Hi Debbiew, try getting an opinion from the Wooridul Spine Centre, if you google it you will get the info, a friend has had several back ops and says they were good.
Thank you so much.:)
What are they saying is the problem? Different physios work in different ways. I went to several, who didn't do much for my back. Then I went to Excellency at Souk Al Bahar - they're quite new - but they sorted it within a few weeks as their approach is slightly different.
Look at alternatives and consider surgery the absolute last resort.

Following MRI scan they basically are saying a disc in my lumbar region is decreasing and therefore causing nerve spasms.

DH had his upper back operated on by Dr. Zbiggy J. Brodzinsky at the Dubai Bone and Joint Centre. He was fantastic and did the op only as a last resort. Perhaps worth getting a second opinion
