Hi Ladies,

I am moving to Abu Dhabi in August and was wondering if anyone could help me with the following:

Do you sign up for a doctor over in Abu Dhabi or just walk into any hospital to see a doctor?

We have a 2 year old daughter, is there a family clinic and where do you go for children's vaccinations

Where would I find a women's clinic for smear tests or can you walk into any hospital?

Any recommendations of a dentist?

So many things to think about!

Many thanks!

Hi Tashy, Hope you'll enjoying here. I'm living in abu dhabi for 9 years, and have loved every minute. There is no "family doctor" concept in Abu Dhabi, but there are a few clinics where you can see a generalist like the Health Plus Clinic http://www.hplus.ae/en/home.aspx and the Harley Street http://www.hsmc.ae/. They have all sorts of doctors also. As soon as you have your insurance from your employer (or your husband, depending on who is sponsoring you), you have a lot of the services for free. You need to pay usually only 50 AED for consultation and then maybe some 5-10% for medication. If you do not have insurance, consulations start at 200-250 AED depending on doctor and clinic. I have my OBGYN in Seha Emirates hospital http://www.sehaemirates.com/ - she delivered my daughter and she is excellent. For dentist, there is an excellent doctor, Amy, in Ibn Sina Clinic http://www.ibnsinauae.com/. For vaccines, go to the local hospitals - any Seha clinic will do the vaccines for free, as soon as you have a residence visa and a permanent accommodation (with twtheeq - authorization from municipality - this needs to be provided by your landlord). all the best ;)
