Have any Australians been to India recently? How did you get your visas? According to this site ... https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html ... it seems that I can apply online, pay online and receive my visa through an email. But many people tell me that i have to go to the embassy to get the visa. Any help gratefully received!

I did a bit of research that might help others. http://www.blsindiavisa-uae.com/visa/page.php?title=Visa%20Requirements%20for%20CGI%20%28Dubai%29 You can call them on 04-255 5530 You can get an online visa, but then when you arrive in India you need to go to a side room to get your fingerprints and eye scans which may take a lot of time if there is a crowd. The alternative is to go to one of the offices here in Dubai http://www.blsindiavisa-uae.com/visa/page.php?title=Contact%20us You need to take: your passport; copies of passport page and UAE residency visa filled online visa application 51mm x 51mm 2inch x 2 inch. White colour background while wearing dark coloured clothing- 2 photos each Dh261/person (if Australian and going for tourism) Copy of airline ticket booking It takes 7 working days to get your passport back. Thank yo for this. I have heard that if you do the online visa then you still have to go to a side room in India to get your fingerprints checked - etc. Does this take a long time? We are going over Eid which means the airport could be busy.

Online but make sure you type in all the info correctly as otherwise you will have to retype it again.

Use the search post and type in "visa for India. The Embassy gets packed so I think it is better and less stressful to do it online
