Who pays the charges for a WU transfer - is it the persona sending the money or the one receiving?

I was under the impression that you could choose who pays or if you split the costs The sender pays. I sent 800GBP a few weeks back and it cost me 60GBP to send it :-( .

WU is not bad for sending money to third-world countries. I use it frequently and I have a loyalty card. Very often, I get free transfers. However, if you want to send money to a Western country, forget about it! They charge a percentage of the money you are sending and it is really expensive. It is better to wire to a bank account.

Thanks, Anon. A client suggested WU but I've never used it before. Why oh why is regular banking here such a pain!?
