My girls are morning people. 6am on the dot they pop up ready for the day. This is true whether I put them to bed at 6pm or 11pm. 6am and it's "wake up mummy!!". So I put them to bed by latest 7.30pm, we sing a few songs and read a bedtime story and on a good night they will still get the 11 hours they need. If the child is school age and they are going to bed any later than 9pm then they are not getting enough sleep.

My son will turn 6 in November, at 6.30-7 pm he goes to the bedroom, reads a book, then by 7.30-8 pm he falls asleep. He wakes up at 6-6.30 am. This is school days routine lol, we don't have a bedtime during holidays, as long as he gets 10 hrs of sleep we're not bothered about bedtime

I'm putting my one yr old to bed at 8.45/9 pm and he wakes up at 8 am. I've had all sorts of comments - that's too early (one friend puts her children to sleep at 11 or 12 no set bedtime), that's too late (other friend puts her children to bed at 6pm), wake him up in the middle of the night to drink more milk (friends who clearly don't want me to ever sleep). I guess before he starts school I'll have to push bedtime back as he will have to wake up earlier.

I try to get my school-age children upstairs at 7:30 and lights out at 7:45. They usually don't fall asleep until 8:15 and I wake them up at 6:25. My 8 year old usually goes to sleep around 9. I let her use her IPad in bed after her siblings have fallen asleep.
