Why not take the Al Jafeet border crossing in Al Ain (Mezayaa). Road works in Oman are nearly ready so it's a 4-6 lane highway all the way from the border to Muscat.

Hi Ruby, Yes, I was there 3 weeks ago. I took E44 and was driving towards Hatta. I wanted to cross the border there right after AlMadam. But for non GCC citizens no go. They sent me back to AlMadam, I took the first exit in that big roundabout and continued towards Al Malaiha. Then there is a big crossing - you have to turn right on the road to Shawka. Before you reach Munay, you have to take right and then you come to another crossing. Take left. Once you reach Hatta, you continue your trip to the border as usually. If you need more info, let me know. Good luck!;)

Hi there, Anyone done this drive since the border crossing at Al Madam was closed to expats? What route do you now use to drive to Hatta Fort and then on to Muscat? Thanks for your help.
