Union Coop on Al Wasl Road (near Al Thaniya Street) is also a great place to buy fresh fruit and veg at very reasonable prices.

go on a friday morning... between 7am and 9am... via Jumeirah , Shindagha tunnel, etc. without touching the salik bridges and at zero traffic! :-)

its just as cheap (if not more) at the main Fruit & Veg market in Shindagha (Deira)... amazinggg bargains and i always come back with bags full of things! I believe you, but the fruit and vegetables market is minimum 40 min away from where I live and have to pass salik a few times, bearing that in mind I would rather go to my nearest rip off Spinneys.
