Good Morning Ladies! My hubby has the chance to move from Dubai to Auckland for a new job. Any idea what is a reasonable income for a 2 person household? No kids.
He is trying to find out how much salary he would need. Not sure about the rents there...

We have been living before in Sydney for few years which has pretty high rents. Not really sure if we can compare Auckland with Sydney?

Also interesting would be how much a 20ft container cost from Dubai to NZ? Any experience?

It really depends where you want to live in Auckland. If central (Ponsonby, Parnell etc) you could be looking at $500-$800 pw. If you are happy to live further out its a bit cheaper - but a longer commute if working central - and traffic can be a nightmare. Food is expensive and you will need to buy a car to get around which means petrol etc I haven't lived in Auckland for 5 years but know cost of living has definitely Increased - imagine you would want to be looking around NZD 90/100k min to live a comfy life. I'm sure you could do on less but it might mean living further out. No experience re the containers sorry My husband and I are just about to move to Dubai so would love to pose the same questions to you? What's a good income for a 2 person household? Good luck!

Have a friend in Auckland. Rent prices are comparable to Sydney at the moment. Have increased quite a bit in last 2 years. Can't help with how much minimum salary you need for 2 people as her husband never got work in NZ and is still working out of dubai. Specialised jobs are rare and not well paid.

I'm not an expert but had a friend move from Brisbane to Auckland a few years ago and the pricing was comparable to Sydney! It's apparently a fairly expensive city to live and property prices are expensive. But you get clean air and seasons, very cold in winter. Good luck
