I am aware of the need for women to follow a respectful dress code, but does this apply to girls? My daughter is five - can she wear shorts and vest tops or not?

Yes, your 5 year old daughter can wear shorts and vest tops, no problem. Like the other poster said, the malls etc can be a little chilly with ac so take light cardigans too and maybe some leggings. But certainly no problem with shorts and tshirts!

In the malls there is clearly a dress code, dress that covers the knees and if I recall correctly the picture has short sleeves. Shorts are fine BUT NOT SHORT SHORTS so that the b U M is showing. No sleeves are fine but I have a 3.5 year old and ALWAYS dress her in thin long sleeved shirts because there is air conditioning in all indoors. Yes even in winter! On the beach its been windy so no sleeves are bit chilly. Happy packing and bring a light sweater for everyone.
