Hi there, I has a similar issues a few years back and it took a very long time to be diagnosed correctly. If it is acid reflux I can highly recommend the gastroentologist at NMC hospital in Jebel Ali. I don't remember his name but he is from India and he has been the only who managed to diagnose and help me. I hope you feel better soon. Hang in there!

Jameylah - glad my post seems to suddenly have brought on a few replies - from people more informed than I - good luck! Actually I often answer to post with ''0'' replies and somehow it brings on a rush of corrections and greater information!!

You need a gastric specialist not an ENT. I had reflux and it's horrible and I suffered for years. I had an endoscopy done to see how serious it was. There's a surgical option to reduce the opening so the acid doesn't come up into the throat area. However, you can reduce the symptoms. I found certain foods used to kick it off, mainly anything spicy or rich, dairy also can be a culprit. I used to have to take things for the rhinitis as well.

For reflux shouldn't you be thinking about seeing a Gastroenterologist rather then ENT? And yes, endoscopy is probably what he will suggest if he thinks its reflux rather than asthma or allergies.

I have reflux, but not the silent kind, and have some of these symptoms. My doctor referred me to Dr Denesh Gopalan at Al Zahra hospital for an endoscopy, which was helpful in identifying where the reflux is occurring and what damage has been done. If you don't get an ENT recommendation, it might be worthwhile finding out whether he can also identify silent reflux or can recommend a colleague who does. Good luck.

If no one replies with a ear, nose and throat specialist here - see a good GP who can send you to one. I was told this condition can cause another more serious condition of the throat area.

Hello Ladies, I am looking for a Doctor who is familiar with Silent Reflux in Adults as I have just about all the symptoms but doctors keep trying to tell me it's asthma or allergies. Does anyone have any experience with this or know a good doctor? Silent reflux is also called laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) Symptoms include: Mild hoarseness Sensation of a lump in the throat Need to clear the throat Sensation of mucous sticking in the throat and/or post-nasal drip Chronic cough Difficulty swallowing Sore throat Red, swollen, or irritated voice box I included the symptoms, in case someone else is suffering from it as it is misdiagnosed in many cases for years.
