Hi all

I am really hoping I can get some much needed advice here !

I have been in dubai a year now and am looking to use my experience from the corporate industry to start my own independant work. It will be just me with no employees and I would like to just work from my home initially while setting up . I am an ex Business consultant from one of the big 4 and am looking at specialising in providing small to medium businesses with a "business health check " type service.

My main question is - what do I need to do in terms of paperwork to set myself up ? I am sponsored by my husband and would prefer to remain on his sponsorship. I would very much appreciate help with this

Many thanks

You would need an NOC from your husband / sponsor to set up any business in the UAE

Not specifically true about the FZE info. I have a FZE trade license and am in no way restricted to operating within the freezone. TwoFour24 is the only one that does this, as far as I'm aware. Your actual red tape area is the working from home part, because operating commercially from a residential property puts you in breach of your tenancy contract.

If you want to offer your service to companies who hold a Dubai (Abu Dhabi etc) you have to get a trade license from DED and you will require an office. fz licenses are cheaper and only require a virtual office but you can only offer your service to other FZ companies. Internet City might have a reasonable sized market foe you. I am not a consultant, I just have 15 plus years of market rxperience and would say: - most people doing what you want to do take a book of contacts with them for their first jobs - check your competition as there are MANY Dubai business advisors so ensure you have a good key strength - select the FZ where your service can be offered to a lot of companies, preferably MNCs as many FZ companies are small and have no intention to onvest in an add on service
