Eye test for glasses prescription?
I'm looking for advice and referrals for this rather perplexing situation I'm in. I went for a regular eye check-up mainly to change my glasses prescription, but I noticed that a 'thorough' check consisted of only a display of the visual chart (Snellen chart); a slit-lamp and a visual acuity device that measures the focused view of an image (the standard house on top of a green hill) at a distance. The ophthalmologist then had me try different lenses on, by which time I no longer knew which one was better. I went to see another doctor, and the same happened. Neither one had measured my eye pressure or performed a retinal examination, both of which require different devices that I did not see at either one of these specialised clinics.
Back in the UK, I had to go through a line-up of 5 different devices administered by a nurse before being admitted to see an ophthalmologist, who would take extra care to prescribe the right glasses/lenses, and ensure that my eye pressure was in check. I'm now desperately in need of changing my lenses, but will not be going back to the UK until Christmas, and was wondering if there are any other better-equipped clinics out there? Advice/recommendations appreciated - cheers!
