Hi Ladies, I want to bring over on my next trip a clothes horse (collapsible) and a small hanging rail. These items are just a bit too wide to put in my case. Has anyone had experience of checking in an extra item which is just a bit too big but definitely not heavy - I just can't find any info on this with the airline (like extra costs?), yet I see people doing this all the time!
I really would appreciate any help please.
Thank you!

It can depend on the airline...... pretty much all airlines publish their allowances. Even though it maybe under the weight you need to keep in mind that some airlines also have maximum dimensions for checked items.

You can check in oversize luggage and, providing it is within your allowance, should not be charged extra for it. There is a separate belt in arrivals to collect the item. I did this a while back with some Range Rover side steps from the UK.
