Residents Visa and Work Permit information
Most visitors must obtain a visa to enter and stay in Ghana. Only a handful of countries within the African continent and some in Asia are exempted. Visa applications can be filed in a Ghanaian embassy or consulate. There are short term visas (tourist, student and business) and permanent stay visa available. Work permits are also required to be applied for and processed before travelling to the country.

Accommodation
The Ghanaian rental market is a difficult pool to get through. There is a lot of demand for long-term/permanent housing, especially in the capital Accra, but limited supply. Corporations set their headquarters in within the capital inflating the demand for employee accommodations. While short-term rentals are plentiful and easy to find, securing a long-term housing will take a lot of time.
The best place to start looking are newspapers and classifieds. Searching online prior to travel will ensure that you spend a minimum amount of time scouring the city for a place to stay. Real estate agents are expensive, so save that as a last resort.
Accra has residential neighborhoods where expats usually take residence. However due to the rental difficulties, many have opted to go to areas like Dzworulu, Spintex Road and Roman Ridge.
Driving License

Healthcare
Ghana has both public and private healthcare. The public insurance system, or NHIS is available for all residents. However the public hospitals accepting this insurance are usually overcrowded and lack quality. Expats prefer securing private health insurances, which are more expensive. The private medical facilities are better in terms of quality of care and treatments.
