2. TLC Diet

The Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) Diet does not primarily target weight loss; instead it is ideal for maintaining the recommended body weight and determining ideal daily calorie intake. The diet limits the daily intake of saturated fats, salt and cholesterol. While it is a balanced eating plan, it does depend heavily on the dieter to familiarize themselves with food labels and working out dietary percentages. This diet plan has no major weakness and is particularly good at promoting cardiovascular health.

3. The Mayo Clinic Diet

4. The Mediterranean Diet

This is more of a lifestyle choice than a ‘go on a diet’ diet. The eating plan is focused around the plants and animals that are available in and around the Mediterranean. Hence the biggest food group is fruits, vegetables and grains followed by seafood. It is supplemented with a larger than usual amount of olive oil and legumes. This diet is sensible and eliminates mostly refined and processed products giving preference to natural foods.

5. The Weight Watcher’s Diet

Weight Watchers has made a comeback as one of the best diets for 2015. It is a great way to lose weight as the program gives you tools, apps and support in order to stick to your plans and achieve your goals. Unlike the other diets, this one is purely for weight loss. Weight Watchers' core approach is to assist members in losing weight by forming helpful habits, eating smarter, getting more exercise and providing support. In contrast to other diets that might provide a list of foods that either must be or should never be eaten, Weight Watchers ' primary plan has no directly comparable requirements and no food is off limits. Participants lose weight by creating a calorie deficit; the PointsPlus system provides a framework for creating that deficit.

The Flexiterian Diet6. Flexitarian

The Flexitarian Diet offers you the best of both worlds. You can lead a mostly vegetarian lifestyle, but still guiltlessly indulge in a hamburger or steak when the urge hits. It was found that flexitarians live an average of 3.6 years longer than their carnivorous counterparts while maintaining a lover rate of heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Becoming a flexitarian is about adding five food groups to your diet – not taking any away. These are: the “new meat” (tofu, beans, lentils, peas, nuts and seeds, and eggs); fruits and veggies; whole grains; dairy; and sugar and spice (everything from dried herbs to salad dressing to agave nectar sweetener).

7. Volumetrics

This diet is based around eating more food in order to lose weight, but it has to be the right kind of food. The hook of Volumetrics is its focus on feeling full. Rolls says that people feel full because of the types and amounts of food they eat -- not because of the number of calories or the grams of fat, protein, or carbs. So the trick is to fill up on the right foods that fill you up for less calories.

The weight management program combines nutrition and physical activity with counseling, to help clients change lifestyle and eating habits. The goal of the program is that once clients reach their desired weight levels, they no longer need to rely on the program's prepackaged food, planned menus, or consultations to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The plan is designed to incorporate 3 balanced meals and two snacks comprising of 45% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 25% healthy fats.

Experts believe that the diet has a positive effect on reversing diabetes, however not much of an effect on reversing heart disease, but if you want a quick fix, take the 7 day challenge.

10. Ornish Diet
