Ohhhh, I remember these in London's Chinatown and never thought of it here! there is a lovely unlicensed Ravi's type place in Hounslow near Heathrow where we always used to go before a flight. You either took your own, or asked on of the waiters and they'd nip into the shop nextdoor! Someone was asking yesterday what business Dubai needed and now we've found it....Ravis with beer!

Ahh, dubai used to have places like these, the reason the shack on the beach - Bu Qtair that Sami mentioned, became so famous was because they used to serve booze in plastic glasses. Great fun.

If you like food at Ravi's, try the buffet at Barbecue Delights in JBR - around 60 - 70 AeD/person with nonalcoholic beverages. Food is great, but going to be very crowded. call ahead to reserve.

Is there anywhere that's like this (Ravi's, Karachi Darbar, BBQ Delights etc) that serves alcohol?

Ravi's i cannot think of anywhere like this that serves alcohol. Magic teapot no longer exists :-(

There is a jazz all you can eat steak and seafood night at Embers at the Address Dubai mall on Thursday nights.

I have a feeling it was about AED250 per person.

Is that the one on the beach. Shack like? I have never been there but heard it was great :-)

here it is - http://www.apronsandhammers.com/

Aprons and Hammers!

No - this isn't it..... it's basically a shack in the wall with plastic chairs.

Oh well - sorry! Another option then for you

What about Kaleidoscope at Atlantis? Its 195AED per person (food only) but there are entertainer vouchers in the family dining which makes it tremendously good value. Drink is extra though. Its a huge restaurant so no problem with space either and its right beside the aquarium.

Aprons & Hammers is great (and the booze reasonable for Dubai)!

I think they meant Bu Qtair the one that serves the fried fish and prawns that are caught on the same day.

how about taking them all down to Ravis in Satwa - see a bit more of Dubai than a hotel lobby and even if you treat them all it wont break the bank.

My fave placed when visitors are here, great food!

My vistors find satwa amazing and exotic ....... which kinda bemuses me a bit

I get fed up with all the glitzy places here. Ravi's reminds me of the restaurants back home.

I have 12 members of my family over visiting dubai at the moment and i'm struggling to think of somewhere to eat tomorrow night! They have enjoyed the buffet like flavours on two & five dining as it's a set price and easy to sort out then the bill comes as well as being good value for money.

Is there any thursday evening brunches other than the rotana ones anyone would recommend?
