Pets in the home

Many Kuwaiti and expat families do have pets. However, it is best to check with your landlord before signing the rental agreement, that your pet is allowed.

Pets

It is best to seek advice before importing or exporting your pet and there are a number of agencies and vet clinics to help you with this.

Many people who move to Kuwait move to an apartment. It is more difficult keeping a dog in an aprtment as man's best friend needs to be walked a few times a day. Remember to always have a little baggy with you when walking your dog in order to pick up the mess he might have made.

Cats are easier as they just need their sand boxes and now pet stores are selling self cleaning ones. They are a little pricey at around KD70 but really worth the money.

If you are moving to a villa then it is much easier to keep a pet due to the fact that most villas have a private garden.

There are 4 main veterinary hospitals and 2 animal rescue societies here, the Animal Friends League (AFL) and Protecting Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

It is also possible to buy all your pet supplies here and there are many pets for sale on supermarket and vet clinic notice boards.
