Dasman Model School (DMS) - Kuwait

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) provides accreditation services for more than 2000 public and private institutions in the six state region - Pre-K through university. Emanating from high quality standards, NEASC accreditation uses self-reflection, peer review and best practices as integral components of its assessment process and monitors the follow-up endeavors leading to continuous school/program improvement. NEASC consists of six Commissions, each of which sets the standards for a particular segment of the educational community.

The Commission on American and International Schools Abroad evaluate American and international schools located in foreign countries for eligibility to seek regional accreditation through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and their Commission on American and International Schools Abroad (CAISA).

Accreditation by NEASC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and indicates that a school meets or exceeds established criteria within the profession for the assessment of institutional quality through a periodic process of self-study and peer review. An accredited school has the resources to achieve its stated purposes and provides evidence that its students are benefiting from the curricular and co-curricular program offered at the school.

CAISA Accreditation means meeting high level, challenging standards, which are designed specifically by and for American / international schools.

The Evaluation Process itself provides an opportunity to improve the quality of education offered at the school, and the “Award of Accreditation” recognizes the quality of the evaluated school and sends out positive messages to parents, teachers, universities, governments, etc. and results in an improved school for students and the whole community.

Council of International Schools (CIS)

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a not-for-profit membership association of schools and post-secondary institutions. CIS defines standards and provides services that support the continuous improvement of international education.

CIS offers a program of evaluation which benchmarks international schools against quality international practices and achieve top levels of performance. Achievement of CIS Accredited status demonstrates a school’s dedication to quality international education and sends out many positive messages both within the school community itself and externally to prospective parents, students and teaching staff as well as universities, governments and multinational companies.
CIS is a membership community committed to quality international education. It provides services to elementary and secondary schools and higher education institutions around the world that have the following in common:

• a desire to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to pursue their lives as global citizens; and
• a commitment to high quality education
To achieve this goal, our schools must infuse international and intercultural perspective into their programs so that students can move forward with the attitudes and understanding that will provide them with a solid base wherever their studies or work may take them.

Admission Procedure

Dasman Model School is registered with the Kuwait Ministry of Private Education and is accredited with the Council of International Schools (CIS) as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Dasman offers three strands to learning; this makes our school a leader in offering a bilingual education which incorporates the best of modern practices and methods through an American program, in parallel with promoting the very fabric and tradition of Kuwaiti society.

In addition, the word “model” was incorporated into the title as a symbol of our commitment to the inclusion and integration of students with special needs who require differentiation in the way they learn, alongside their age-appropriate peers. Thus, as well as paving the way for students to follow a traditional path to graduation with an American-style high school diploma; Dasman Model School, through its learning support units and resource inclusion programs, assists those with learning differences to ultimately achieve the same goal.

Equally, for those special needs students who do not intend to advance into further education, the British EDEXCEL vocational program is offered; the goal of this program is for students to accumulate experiences and develop skills that will enable them secure employment after graduation and become responsible, contributing members of society.
