Indian Community School Kuwait (ICSK)
The Indian Community School was established on the 5th of May, 1959. The school, since its inception, has been rendering yeoman service to the Indian diaspora by providing excellent education, exclusively for Indian children. The School is recognized by the Ministry of Education, State of Kuwait and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, India, for the All India Secondary School Examination [Std. X] and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination [Std. XII].
The School is a community organization, totally non-propriety in nature. The School is the first Indian educational institution to be established in Kuwait. Under one name and one management, the Indian Community School is housed in four buildings, three in the Salmiya location, and one in the Khaitan location, with a collective strength of 6485 students as per year 2011-2012. A distinctive feature of the school is the admission policy where by students are admitted on a first come first serve basis, with no gender or religion bias. The average student/teacher ratio is aimed to be maintained at 1:30; to provide quality education and attain high records in Board level exams. The average class strength is approximately 35 which is a distinctive feature of the School. Each year the school is overwhelmed by an influx of students seeking admission.
The infrastructure of the school is truly amazing with a teaching staff of the best available caliber in Kuwait and India. The team, of highly motivated, professionally trained and qualified teachers has historically & consistently produced outstanding results in the Board examinations. Teachers of special subjects such as music, dance, physical education, work experience and art and craft add a dash of color to the institution. A well laid basket- ball court; host to many interschool basket-ball tournaments is the pride of the school, along with other excellent facilities available for sports enthusiasts which include indoor games such as chess, table tennis, caroms and badminton. This enables students to participate in CBSE cluster games in Kuwait as well as CBSE National Athletic Meets. The science laboratories collectively are 9 in number and the school libraries, a storehouse of learning, are 4 in total.
A fleet of air-conditioned buses is at the service of the student community. Routes cover the length and breadth of Kuwait. All the buildings are equipped with a clinic and professionally trained licensed nursing staff. In keeping with Islamic tradition, along with the regulations laid down by the Ministry of Kuwait; the school has an Islamic room for Islamic studies.
Technology in the 21st century has helped mankind reach greater heights; the school has provided computer aided teaching software. This has enhanced the teaching process and is used as an effective tool for repetition and recapitulation.
Admission and fee rules are laid down as applicable to CBSE and the Ministry of Private Education Kuwait.
The strength of staff details of the school comprise - Pre-Primary which is KG/PREP – 36, Primary class I to V – 82, Secondary class VI to X – 75, Senior Secondary class XI and XII – 35, Vice-Principals – 4 and Principals – 3. Qualification, workload and service terms and conditions match CBSE/Ministry of Private Education in Kuwait. Teacher empowerment with orientation programs are conducted regularly in a spacious school auditorium by inviting resourceful people from India. The school will continue to attain new heights of excellence in all fields of education, thus reflecting the spirit behind CCE, namely every child is talented and is capable of learning.
The School Management comprises Board of Trustees including Parent Representatives with various Sub Committees such as Administration, Finance, Academic, Co Curricular, Transport, Public Relation, Staff and Student Development, Sports etc. All financial accounts are audited by international auditing firms and published periodically.

Career Guidance & Counseling
Career Guidance Cell (CGC) a ‘support education unit’ of Indian Community School, Kuwait aims at holistic development of students through academic, career and personal counseling.
CGC has been set up with the vision of extending its services to all Indian students in Kuwait. The services of CGC are available all through the year. CGC has three main components to its program and is meant for students from 9th to 12th standards. All these programs are implemented through a structured and scientific module designed in a manner that is age and need specific, spread over a period of one academic year.
Academic Counseling mainly looks at enhancing study skills.
Career Counseling is an individualized service offered to students and parents seeking information on course and career options from anywhere around the world. The cell also has a computer based career search program that is student friendly and interactive.
Personal Counseling entails one to one counseling services by a highly qualified and trained psychologist.
The age requirements for admission for the academic year 2012-2013 are as follows :
(Students seeking admission to other classes must produce a valid transfer Certificate from the previous school)
The following documents also must be submitted at the time of admission:
- Valid residence permit in Kuwait and Civil ID.
- Health/Medical certificate issued by the local clinic. (Medical card for the student will be given in their respective area clinic. Two photographs, a Civil ID copy & Birth Certificate (if born in Kuwait) are required to be produced at the clinic for obtaining the Medical Card).
- Photocopies of the passport of the student, father and mother.
- Two passport size photographs of the student.
- Copy of the student's Birth Certificate.
- (The originals of the above documents also must be produced at the time of admission for verification and return).
An admission file duly filled in and supported by relevant documents must also be submitted at the time of admission. The admission file and the prospectus can be obtained from the offices of branch schools on payment of KD. 5/-. Taking an admission file from the school does not guarantee admission.
Admission to Class XI and allotment of various groups of subjects are done on the basis of Model Examination / Board Examination marks of Class X. All students intending to join Class XI must seek fresh admission.
