Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Display Centre

The Display Centre is situated in Central Avenue, North Ahmadi and can be contacted on 2398 2393 to arrange a visit or you may be able to request a guided tour.
The Centre has a very informative and interesting range of exhibits to view and read about starting with the oil fields in the area and the discovery of oil in Kuwait.
You can learn about geology relating to oil, diamond drills used in oil mining and all about the Iraqi invasion which led to the biggest environmental disaster in modern history. The statistics here are amazing - but due to massive support from it's allies, Kuwait recovered and is working back up towards the output level it had prior to the 1991 invasion.
Our tour then led out to a control room in the fields where we saw lots of dials and flow charts but unfortunately the language barrier made comprehension a little difficult here...
We saw the Burgan Oil field and the flames burning off waste gases from the top of the oil wells. A lake had also been created to demonstate the 'greenness' of the Kuwait Oil Company.
Afterwards we were transported back for lunch which was a fabulous 3 course buffet.
Arabic hospitality is very nice here in Kuwait!
