Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides

Two scurvy young pirates came along with me to the latest Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster premiere at Cinestar, Mall of the Emirates on Wednesday night and we were all in for a great evening. Johnny Depp has achieved such cross-generational cross-gender appeal with his off-beat characterisation of the very endearing Captain Jack Sparrow. With a great cast, larger than life, lovable characters, a witty and well-written script

and a plot that keeps both adults and children tuned in, it comes as no surprise that cinemas will be full this week, catching up on Jack’s latest adventure. With the Bloom/Knightly story concluded, for this the fourth movie in the franchise, our hero catches up with an old flame, played with Latino passion by Penelope Cruz, and they find themselves on the same path in search of The Fountain of Youth.

The movie is available in 3D which I have mixed feelings about. I can get equally lost in a great film in 2D without the glasses but I know others like the effect. It didn’t detract from the film though; rates a 10 out of 10 from Captains Sam and David Sparrow, and from me!
Must see – at least once!
