Mums & Tots

Mums & Tots

Here we have a round up of things to do in Kuwait for mums and tots and some features and articles...

Expat Mums In Kuwait

Expat Mums in Kuwait was formed in February of 2011 by three expatriate Mums (two British and one American), who wanted a platform for Mums from various backgrounds to share their similar experiences living in Kuwait. These mums started with a notion of wanting information for expats to be at their fingertips...from finding a sutiable school to enroll your child to the best restaurant to eat pizza. We love that we work together to learn more about life in Kuwait. We have since formed a network of Mums from various backgrounds who make up a group who share, help, and offer support to one another. The group is now lead by one of the original Co-Founders, Alicia Chatila.

However, the success of EMK lies within the volunteers who help online and through events to make Expat Mums in Kuwait a true community group. Additionally, every Mum or "Mum-to-be" who is a part of our forum, makes up a special fabric of who EMK represents.

We are grateful for every one of the EMK members who takes part in the joy of the group we call Expat Mums in Kuwait.

The EMK Children's Library Now Open!

The Reading Room, a children's lending library, is now open at Bright Minds for Expat Mums Kuwait. The library is open daily. Library membership is KD 5 per month and gives members unlimited access to the library. Check out 3 books at a time for up to 2 weeks. Contact Tara Waudby, EMK Library Coordinator, for more information at tara_harold@yahoo.com or 6619-3090.

THREE FOUR TIME Music Classes

THREE-FOUR TIME is a UK educational programme for music development for 3 and 4 years old children. Sessions are held weekly and last for 45 minutes. The children attend without an adult, thus gaining initial preparation for the giant step of starting "BIG" school. Each half term the children are introduced to the new musical concept and a new theme. The themes are mainly based on stories or classical pieces of music such as Peter and The Wolf, Sleeping Beauty and Noah's Ark. The songs and learning objectives are slightly more challenging and we will play amazing percussion pieces. Watch your child grow in confidence week by week until they are ready to go to "BIG" school. Whilst we are always sad to see them go to school, we know that they have had the best guidance on their journey.

Location: BETTER BOOKS, SALMIYA. Classes - Wednesday or Saturday. To book your place call 90 93 53 72 or e-mail: musicwithmummykuwait@gmail.com

Things To Do With The Wee Ones!

Kuwait has many parks for children, of varying standards and in most residential areas you may find green play areas. Also walking along the Corniche you will see many children's facilities such as slides, climbing frames, swings and inflatable slides/activities on the beach.

As the summer gets so hot, many cafes also have indoor areas for smaller children to play in, such as soft play areas. Inside the Malls too, you will find all manner of arcade amusements for children (some requiring you to purchase a loyalty card for a small fee) alongside cinemas, food courts and perhaps bowling.
