As with all insurance, when purchasing a health insurance policy, it is imperative you do some homework, check the small print and consider the benefits of each different policy offered. Make sure you understand what is and isn't covered.

All policies include limitations and restrictions; for instance, pre-existing medical conditions may not be covered. Certain occupations are excluded and high-risk sports are a no-no generally. However, the definition of high risk varies from insurer to another.

When you become a resident or citizen of Kuwait, you are able to register for a Health Insurance Card. This service allows citizens to register into the health insurance automated system in the state. The criteria are as follows:

  • The applicant must attend in person

  • Copy of the Civil ID of the sponsor

  • One personal passport sized photograph

  • Copy of you work permit or visa
