I use the one in Al Barsha and have never once had problem. I also use Mandy and she ALWAYS calls to confirm appointments the day before.

I went to visit the Roots @ Novotel this week, salon is nice looking modern and super clean, bit of an upgrade from Jumeirah branch, but I am waiting til start of Oct for my appiontment with Ashleigh as she is transferring there from Jumeirah branch. Hopefully all goes well!

I wanted to try this salon (al barsha branch) but when I called to book an appointment the conversation went a bit like this:

Me: Hi i'd like to book an appointment
Roots: Yes maaam when do you want to come
Me: well would sunday morning be available?
Roots: no maaam choose another day we are pulley booked
Me: Ok, can you tell me when you have appointments free as I'm pretty flexible
Roots: no maaam you need to give me a day and time
Me: Ok, can I come on say wednesday, anytime?
Roots: what time madam?
Me: Well either around 10 in the morning or even after 2pm would be fine
Roots: sorry ma'am we're fully booked on wednesday, please choose another day
Me: Ok forget it, bye.

lol... needless to say I didn't book there... called hairworks JBR, girl on the phone said how soon do you want an appointment, I said as soon as possible, she then said OK i have sunday at 10 tuesday at 3 and wednesday at 1 would you like one of these? I chose my day and haven't looked back.... I've found the prices are OK at hairworks and the hairdressers are fab...

I have to agree about the shabby bit as well, didn't feel 'fresh', but so are quite a few of the Beauty Salons in villas in the Jumeirah area.

I've been going to the Al Barsha one for about 18 months now, and I really like it there - no complaints from me about Al Barsha! Haven't tried the other branches though.

Yes they are quite bad.
I've been to the Jumeirah branch a couple of times and was not overly impressed by their 'customer-service'.

So bit of a rant and word of warning here, today i was booked in at the Roots hair salon in the Novotel Hotel (got an SMS about a new hair stylist from the UK joining). The appointment was all re-confirmed yesterday. So turned up today to find the salon is actually closed! Apparently the stylist had to gone back to the UK for an emergency! So why didn't someone call me to cancel the appointment and re-schedule elsewhere? (Roots have a couple of branches across Dubai). Again another shining example of the 1 star customer service we all have to put up with in Dubai... I really expected better, but then again who am i kidding!!!
